Markets being targeted....Africa and rest of Middle East

Dubai set to explore gold trade in B2B space

DUBAI, January 13, 2015

Dubai is set to explore its chances in the business-to-business (B2B) jewellery space, by offering its finely crafted collection to business clients in overseas markets, according to a report.

Its first step is in the hosting of Vicenza Oro Dubai trade exhibition, a showpiece industry gathering with events in Italy, Hong Kong and Basel, Switzerland - in Dubai during April, said the Gulf News report.

The likely markets being targeted for the off take of Dubai’s jewellery would be Africa and the rest of the Middle East, it said.

A plan has been scripted that would enable the industry in the emirate to explore the B2B market within three year, Tawhid Abdullah, chairman of the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, was quoted as saying.

"Bahraini and Kuwaiti design collections have been popular for some time, but Dubai's been less so. The trade expects to make a big push creating the Dubai-branded designs and making sure they have their own strong following. It could be in 21k,” he added.
