Al Meera posts 6.2pc rise in profit

Al Meera Consumer Goods Company has reported a gross profit of QR313.9 million ($86.21 million) for the third quarter of this year, an increase of 6.2 per cent compared to QR295.5 million ($81.15 million) posted during the same period last year.

The group’s gross shops rental income increased 49.6 per cent from QR35.6 million to QR53.3 million.

Dr Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Al Meera deputy chief executive officer, said the group’s sales increased 7.2 per cent to QR1,934.2 million from QR1,805 million during the same period last year.

Al Meera’s Group operating income increased 9.4 per cent from QR349.6 million to QR382.6 million, he said.

The financial results reflect the company’s sound policies, high standards of service, and the continued progress achieved in its medium and long term expansion plans, including the recent soft opening of its 4,239 sq m Bu Sidra branch. It is the first of five new shopping centres set to open soon, adding a total of 9,709 sq m of supermarket area to Al Meera’s presence in Qatar. - TradeArabia News Service
