First flydubai sale seen big hit

Dubai, June 23, 2009

Flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, has seen flight bookings rocket in the first 24 hours of the promotion sale with more than 6,000 seats being snapped up, said an official.

The first flydubai sale went live at 23.59pm on Sunday, June 21 and will run until 23.59 tonight (Tuesday).

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai said: 'We are surprised and very pleased by the number of bookings in the first night of the first flydubai sale. For bookings to have reached more than 6,000 between midnight on Sunday and midnight last night is quite incredible.'

'What is particularly pleasing is that so far we are seeing a very even split between the sectors that are being booked, with 44 per cent of all bookings being for flights coming in to Dubai.'

“We have also seen a huge increase in the number of bookings on flights that are not included in the sale, which would suggest that people have been attracted to the site to book the special offer prices, but are finding that even our full price fares are so reasonable that they are tempted to book,” he pointed out.

There are still thousands of tickets available and customers can book via the website, www.flydubai.com, the call centre, +9714 3010800 and through selected travel agents, he said.

Sale prices are available on all routes to which flydubai currently operates, Beirut, Amman, Damascus and Alexandria and prices start from just Dh125. flydubai’s prices always include all taxes and one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 10kg.-TradeArabia News Service
