Amer Group launches Porto Dead Sea project

Amer Group, a leading Egyptian development company with the tourism and entertainment sectors, is set to launch the implementation phase the Porto Dead Sea project, estimated to cost JD800 million ($1.1 billion) overall and JD60 million for the initial development phase.
 
The cornerstone ceremony to mark the commencement of this phase was held today (April 14) under the patronage of Prime Minister Dr Abdullah Nsour and was attended by chairman of the Development and Free Zones Commission (DFZC), the chairman of Jordan Development Zones Company (JDZ), as well a number of prominent Jordanian officials and businessmen. 
 
The project, launched under the slogan ‘Pulse of the Dead Sea,’ is one of several large-scale tourist and residential Porto destinations owned and run by Amer Group across Egypt, the Middle East and Morocco. 
 
The group’s portfolio includes the Porto Marina, Porto El Sokhna, Porto New Cairo, Porto Matrouh, Porto Sharm, Porto 6 October, Porto Tartous - Syria, and Porto Agadir – Morocco. 
 
The project is scheduled for completion in 2016 and will increase Jordan’s overall hotel capacity, attract regional and international investments, as well as create thousands of job opportunities for Jordanians.  
 
It will offer an expansive suite of residential and touristic facilities spread across 800,000 sq m along the Dead Sea coast, including thousands of hotel-serviced apartments, 20 global restaurants and cafes, mega malls, an international health and spa centre, medical facilities and an amusement park.
 
It will also feature an equestrian and shooting club, different sports courts, 20 swimming pools including four women only pools, four lakes, a dancing fountain and the first cinema complex in the Dead Sea.
 
The development will introduce Amer Group’s Papa Porto international carnivals to Jordan, offering family entertainment throughout the year.
 
Mansour Amer, chairman of the group, said: “We are confident that by leveraging our longstanding experience in developing, designing and implementing exceptional, family-oriented tourism and leisure projects, we will present Jordan with a new resort concept.
