Gulf Air executive elected to BAR UK

Manama, July 15, 2014

Bahrain's national carrier Gulf Air's country manager for the UK Rashid Abdulrahman Al Gaoud has been elected to the board of Airline Representatives in the UK (BAR UK) for a one-year term, it was announced yesterday.

BAR UK is an industry association representing the majority of airlines operating to the UK and this is the first time a Bahraini joins the organisation, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"I am delighted to be part of the BAR UK, adding my voice to issues that affect airlines, including government policy, regulation, airport capacity, environment, border control, taxation and charges," Al Gaoud said.

"I look forward to making a positive contribution while raising awareness of Gulf Air's longstanding ties with the UK and the airline's ongoing commitment to industry best practices," he added.

Gulf Air has had a strong presence in the UK since its first flight to London Heathrow in 1970, and currently operates double daily flights to London.

As one of the Middle East's largest network carriers, Gulf Air is well-positioned to connect the UK to several key destinations in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia with excellent connectivity via its efficient hub Bahrain.

The BAR UK presents the widest international voice of the airline industry, representing 75 scheduled airlines in the UK in their dealings with government departments, regulators and airport operators. - TradeArabia News Service
