Etihad Airways ... disruption caused by fog.

Etihad working to restore flight schedule hit by fog

ABU DHABI, January 5, 2015

Etihad Airways teams in Abu Dhabi and across its global network are continuing to work around the clock to restore the airline’s flight schedule to normal following Saturday’s severe fog disruption, the airline said.

The fog had a major impact upon operations into and out of its hub in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The restructuring of Saturday night’s operations, including the cancellation of 20 return flights, has resulted in the easing of aircraft congestion at Abu Dhabi Airport as well as allowing other disrupted flights to operate, it said.

Additional Etihad Airways staff members continue to assist passengers at Abu Dhabi Airport and at local hotels where disrupted passengers have been accommodated. During the past 24 hours the airline has booked disrupted passengers into more than 2,000 hotel rooms in the city, an Etihad statement said.

Those passengers still due to fly to, from, or through Abu Dhabi, up to and including January 6, are still encouraged to rebook their flights through Etihad Airways’ global contact centres, details of which can be found at etihad.com/contacts. Etihad Airways will waive normal cancellation and refund fees during this period. - TradeArabia News Service
