BAC showcases Bahrain airport at South Africa event

MANAMA , October 7, 2015

The Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of Bahrain International Airport (BIA) took part in the 21st edition of the World Routes Development Forum and Exhibition held in Durban, South Africa recently.

It also led a BIA delegation to the three-day conference and exhibited and explored partnerships through active involvement in a series of pre- arranged meetings and networking sessions, said a statement.

Waleed Fakhro, aviation marketing manager at BAC, said: “World Routes is a substantial event for the global aviation industry and each year, we concentrate all our efforts in achieving maximum exposure both through our active attendance at the forum and our participation in the exhibition.

“As we move steadily ahead with our airport expansion plans, World Routes provides an essential platform to showcase BIA’s competitiveness as a regional aviation hub and share our vision with the international aviation community.”

In partnership with Bahrain Airport Services, Bahrain International Circuit, Bahrain Duty Free, Bahrain Petroleum Company, British Petroleum Company, and Chevron, BAC promoted BIA and Bahrain through a dedicated pavilion at the exhibition.

The delegation showcased the key competitive advantages of BIA in the region in an effort to attract potential interest from international airlines and add new routes linking Bahrain to the world.

This year Routes World gathered more than 50 senior leaders from across the route development and aviation industries who participated in discussions and debates that set the political and commercial agenda for the industry in the coming 12 to 18 months.

Some of the key topics covered included an overview of the industry’s current trends, the anticipated challenges of the next decade, the changing business of airports, the contribution of Middle Eastern airlines to route development, the complexity of air service development and new travel technology.

“Routes World events are always successful in bringing together key speakers and opinion leaders to share their thoughts and input on the latest developments, challenges and future outlook of our industry. The topics on the agenda were very prominent and offered valuable insight especially for airports like BIA which are looking towards a sustainable growth strategy,” Fakhro added. - TradeArabia News Service
