40pc female hoteliers in Radisson Blue Martinez' leadership

BEIRUT, October 21, 2015

The Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel in Beirut has about 40 per cent female hoteliers occupying leadership positions, with a majority of them promoted from within.

In many companies the proportion of women in the workforce decreases the higher up the corporate ladder you go and is more apparent in the male-dominated hotel industry where women hold less than one in five leadership positions, said a statement.

Despite the fact that half of Rezidor Group workforce is female, women only occupy 16 per cent of the leadership positions within the organisation, it said.

Hotel group Carlson Rezidor has unveiled plans to double its number of female leaders by next year, in an attempt to drive change in the hospitality industry tilted Women in Leadership (WiL) Champions.

The group decided to grow the percentage of women in senior leadership positions to at least 30 per cent by the end of next year.

“We are at 40 per cent of female hotelier occupying leadership positions, and we are very proud of that,” said Kosta, general manager of Radisson Blu Martinez Hotel Beirut.

“Majority of our female leaders are promoted from within Radisson and that is a big asset for us. With the WiL initiative a truly positive change will be introduced in our company’s culture and business approach,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
