Abu Dhabi Summer Season set to thrill in 2016

ABU DHABI, January 27, 2016

Abu Dhabi Summer Season returns this year with a diverse programme of international shows, shopping promotions, prize draws, and hotel and attraction offers set to entertain UAE residents and visitors from July to September.

“Last year’s superb Summer Season witnessed a significant increase in the number of guest arrivals into the emirate – up a highly impressive 21 per cent over the same period the previous year,” said Sultan Al Dhaheri, Acting Executive Director of Tourism at TCA Abu Dhabi.

“We will be looking to build on this success by offering another fantastic array of entertainment and promotions during our 2016 Summer Season, targeting key markets across the GCC, India and certain European countries including the UK, France and Germany. As we move towards becoming a year-round destination and our portfolio of attractions continues to grow, we are confident of establishing Abu Dhabi as a must-visit destination on the itinerary for tourists from across the world. Our annual Summer Season, along with our stunning scenery, rich culture and diverse entertainment offerings along with a fantastic choice of competitively priced accommodation makes the emirate an excellent destination to visit and enjoy,” added Al Dhaheri.

This year’s Abu Dhabi Summer Season will run from July 7 to September 11. Full details of the Summer Season programme of shows, events and promotions will be announced soon, with UAE-based event companies confirming a line-up of leading international shows for all the family.

The Summer Season will coincide with the Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha holiday periods as well as the annual school summer break with a range of Arab artists and children’s shows arranged to entertain residents and visitors.

The 2015 Summer Season, which ran from June 11 to September 5, attracted 951,979 guest arrivals into the emirate. The number of visitors from India showed the largest increase during the period, rising 29.8 per cent from 2014. Visitors from within the UAE showed double digit growth, while visitors from the GCC, not including the UAE, increased by 9.8 per cent to 79,086.

Along with the significant rise in visitor guest arrivals, participating malls across the emirate also saw large increases in footfall and trade. The 12 malls which hosted TCA Abu Dhabi’s weekly prize draw to win a Mercedes-Benz car reported 15-20 per cent growth in business.

Leading international shows and performances took place at venues across the emirate in 2015 and similar world-class events are planned for this year’s summer celebration. – TradeArabia News Service
