UAE's Al Khoory eyes 1,100 hotel rooms by 2019

DUBAI, April 23, 2016

UAE-based Al Khoory Hotels has unveiled its big strategy for the mid-market hospitality sector in Dubai with plans to open 1,100 rooms in the emirate by end of 2019 intime for the World Expo extravaganza.

The Dubai-based three and four-star Al Khoory Hotels is part of a UAE conglomerate with diversified arms in the business arenas of real estate, automobile, equipment trading and servicing, and hospitality and also assembles water pumps, electric control panels, waste disposal bins and chutes and electric generators.

As the Dubai hotel market becomes ever more competitive, a new wave of affordable properties, such as Al Khoory Hotels, is giving targeted groups of visitors the facilities they want, coupled with exceptional value.

The mid-market hospitality sector is set to grow significantly in the UAE, over the next few years, primarily due to the upcoming Expo2020 besides the spurt in demand from China, India and GCC countries as well as Generation Y travellers and young families on a budget.

Mohammed M T Khoory, the managing director of the group, said: "Our hospitality division is in a steady proposition, and with our pipeline of new openings, we plan to offer 1,100 rooms in Dubai by end of 2019."

"During this time, we will also start to explore opportunities internationally and foresee to create management contracts with stand-alone properties in the UAE and GCC market, where we see long term growth opportunities," he noted.

In addition to existing properties such as the Al Khoory Hotel Apartments in Al Barsha and Al Khoory Executive Hotel in Al Wasl, which are predominantly aimed at both leisure and business travellers; the group will be launching its latest mid-market proposition at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market (ATM), starting with the 227-room Al Khoory Atrium Hotel at Al Barsha which is set to open in July.

With free Wi-Fi and a media hub in every room, the hotel’s offering is complemented by its convenient location midway between Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International with Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre just 10 minutes away, said Khoory.

According to him, the hotel is in short distance from the upcoming Expo 2020 site, Jebel Ali port and the free zone areas.

Al Khoory Atrium Hotel also offers meeting rooms with banquet and conference facilities for up to 70 people. All hotels within the group are dry, serve Halal food and have a no smoking policy, making it a family friendly hotel, stated the top official.

The property is also within walking distance from Sharaf DG Metro Station and top attractions including Mall of the Emirates and Ski Dubai, while Wild Wadi waterpark and Dubai Marina are also close by, making it ideal for leisure guests, and short and long-stay business travellers alike.

Junior suites additionally include a separate living room. The executive suite, in addition to the bedroom and living room, is equipped with a walk-in closet, 60” flat screen television and Jacuzzi. Both suite categories are also equipped with an espresso machine.

“For a delicious meal, there’s ‘Spices’ all-day dining restaurant and ‘La Atrio’, our Italian speciality restaurant,” said Pierre Sokhon, the group general manager at Al Khoory Hospitality Division.

"When it comes to leisure time, as well as boasting a rooftop infinity swimming pool, the hotel has separate facilities for male and female like Jacuzzi, Moroccan bath, Relaxation area, State-of-the-art gym - @Calories, sauna and steam rooms, as well as Massage and treatment rooms," he stated.

During the ATM, Al Khoory Hotels will also discuss plans to open the 69 room Al Khoory Inn Bur Dubai by 2017, the 370-room Al Khoory Plaza Hotel Diera as well as the 99-room Al Khoory Central Hotel and 159-room Al Khoory Courtyard Hotel – both set to open in Al Quoz in 2019, said the hospitality group.
