DUBAI, April 25, 2016

Oman's Taameer Investment will unveil its third hotel, a five-star property, in the sultanate at the Arabian Travel Market 2016 (ATM), which opened in Dubai, UAE, today (April 25).

The new Shaza Muscat hotel will have 250 rooms and 150 hotel apartments and will feature specialty restaurants and other highlights. The hotel will be managed and operated by Shaza Hotels, an independent five-star hotel operator that is supported by Kempinski chain of hotels.

Shaza Muscat aims to welcome its first guests in the third quarter of 2019.

This project is part of Taameer Investments’ dynamic plans to bring around 1,700 high-end hotel rooms into the Omani market within the next four years in a bid to support the Ministry of Tourism's plans to promote tourism in the sultanate.

Shaza Muscat will be developed as part of a large mixed-use development comprising two levels of retail, grand event/function hall, an array of entertainment areas with an exclusive central plaza. The project will be developed by Zakher Investment while Taameer Investment will hold 100 per cent ownership, said a statement.

The development will also comprise a luxurious office tower with the best business suites and shall be an icon of the city, said the statement.

The development is expected to create economic and social benefits for the community as it is located in the heart of Muscat at Al Khuwair on Dohat Al Adab Street.

Taameer Investment and Shaza Hotels will sign the management agreement at the ATM in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Qatabi, Oman's ambassador to the UAE, and other senior executives. The agreement will be signed by Suleiman bin Masoud Al-Harthy, CEO of Taameer Investment  and Simon Coombs, CEO of Shaza Hotels, in the presence of Shaikh Salim bin Ahmad al Ghazali, chairman of Taameer Investment.

Al-Harthy said: “We are very pleased to sign this partnership, which will lead the way to various activities and preparations, including the completion of design work, followed by construction works, as the Shaza Muscat Hotel is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2019.”

Coombs said: “Shaza Hotels and Taameer Investment have shared a solid relationship that continues to be strengthened with every passing milestone. The upcoming Shaza Muscat will be the third distinctive experience offered by our group in Oman. This is truly a significant moment for Shaza hotels.” - TradeArabia News Service
