DEMAND, SUPPLY UP

Dubai hotels occupancy, rates fall in April

LONDON, May 12, 2016

Dubai experienced a slow April this year when hotel occupancy levels, average-daily-rate (ADR) and revenue-per-available room (RevPAR) dipped in comparison to the same period in 2015, reports showed.

Despite increases in supply (over 6.1 per cent) and demand (over 5.2 per cent), occupancy rates slipped 0.9 per cent to 79.7 per cent while ADR declined 15.4 per cent to Dh771.74 ($210). RevPAR dropped significantly by 16.1 per cent to Dh615.12 ($167.4) compared to 2015,, according to a report by STR Global, a leading provider of global hotel data.

Although Dubai reported overall performance declines, the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2016 helped the market reach occupancy levels above 80.0 per cent for five consecutive days near the end of the month (April 25 to 29). - TradeArabia News Service
