Oman's budget carrier SalamAir launches bookings

MUSCAT, January 2, 2017

SalamAir, Oman’s first budget airline, has launched ticket sales for flights between Salalah and Muscat and flights from Muscat to Dubai.

Tickets are available through the user-friendly SalamAir.com website and a number of affiliated travel agents.

The airline will launch its service to Salalah on January 30, while flights to Dubai (Al Maktoum International Airport at DWC) will start from February 15.

Promotional fares start at RO13 (one-way) to Salalah from Muscat and RO16.6 for Dubai.

“The eagerly anticipated launch of SalamAir ticket sales is a significant occasion for the airline and for the people of Oman. Our competitive price structure makes it possible for tourism, leisure and business passengers alike to take journeys more frequently, giving them the chance to experience more,” said SalamAir chairman Khalid Al Yahmadi. “As SalamAir opens the skies, it is proud to contribute to Oman’s future progress and prosperity by meeting the rapidly increasing demand for air traffic, supporting our tourism and hospitality sectors, and generating a range of opportunities for employment and business.”

François Bouteiller, SalamAir CEO, said: “We are delighted to reach another significant milestone in the launch of our new airline. Travellers in Oman and Dubai can now book their flights with SalamAir and benefit from the choices we offer. We see ticket purchase as the beginning of our customers’ journey with us, a journey that although low on cost, meets the very highest international standards in safety, security and customer service.”

SalamAir has introduced three easy fare options: Light, Friendly and Flexi. Light, the airline’s lowest fare family, has been designed for customers who travel light and only require hand baggage. Offering great value is the Friendly fare, which includes 20kg of checked luggage plus 7kg of hand baggage. For maximum passenger convenience and value, Flexi, has all the advantages of Friendly along with priority check-in and the possibility to change flights at no extra cost.

In addition, a budget conscious menu of additional services is also available, which includes extra luggage allowance, seat selection, and priority check-in, the airline said.

Travel Agents who wish to offer SalamAir flights for their customers are invited to register their details on the SalamAir website, and will be contacted by one of the SalamAir sales team to give them access to the Travel Agent Portal, it said.

SalalmAir is part of Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS),  founded in 2014 through the concerted efforts of 10 key government entities.
The company aims to increase the economic contributions of the non-oil and gas sectors by identifying new opportunities and intelligent solutions that meet public needs and enrich the quality of life of people in Oman.

SalamAir has a fleet of three Airbus A320s and the airline will be based in Muscat, but will have a secondary hub at Salalah airport, said an Oman Daily Observer report.

SalamAir will start its scheduled services with four daily flights to Salalah and two to Dubai's Al Maktourm International Airport at DWC. -– TradeArabia News Service
