SEATTLE, January 8, 2017

Boeing delivered a total of 60 commercial aircraft to Middle Eastern carriers in 2016, as against 52 in the previous year, marking a rise of 15.3 per cent, with Emirates heading the list having received 16 planes, the US manufacturer said.

Qatar Airways took the second position with 11 deliveries in 2016, while Flydubai received eight aircraft.

Globally, Boeing recorded strong commercial delivery numbers during the year and achieved several airplane programme milestones. The company delivered 748 commercial airplanes.

Boeing booked 668 net orders, valued at $94.1 billion at list prices. The backlog at the end of the year stood at 5,715 unfilled commercial orders.

Airplane development programems continued to make progress in 2016. Key milestones for the year included the first flight of the 737 MAX, the opening of the 777X Composite Wing Center in Everett, Wash., and start of 787-10 final assembly in North Charleston in the US state of South Carolina. – TradeArabia News Service
