InterContinental Doha The City has welcomed Ahmed Kamel to his new role as director of rooms division.

In line with his new position, Kamel will oversee the front office, housekeeping, recreation teams as well as supporting government relations.

With over 18 years of hospitality experience with well known groups such as Shangri La and Le Royal Meridien, and eight years in particular spent with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Ahmed has been a valued team member of InterContinental Doha The City since March 2015 and has achieved a lot in a little less than two years.

My team has been the greatest support system and we shall continue to work towards our greater goal of creating great hotels guests love,” said Kamel. “I am looking forward to this exciting opportunity as well as all the things to come, and I hope to innovate and help pioneer milestones in my new tenure.”

During his term in the hotel, Kamel has been instrumental in making InterContinental Doha The City the most improved InterContinental hotel and in the immense growth of the hotel’s TripAdvisor ranking from being the top 19 hotel in Doha to reaching the top 2. He has been awarded the Ambassador Excellence Award in the AMEA region in 2015 and is currently the president of the Qatar chapter of Amicale Internationale des Chefs de Réception et Sous Directeurs des Grand Hôtels, or the International Association for Front Office Managers and Assistant Hotel Managers (AICR).

Kamel has also represented all Qatar based hotels in 2015 and 2016 in cooperation with the Qatar Tourism Authority.
