Emirates Dubai Jazz Fest to showcase top talents

DUBAI, February 9, 2017

Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival has given music fans more to look forward to by announcing a newly-conceived event, which will allow attendees to enjoy amazing regional jazz and soul music compilations.

Launched in collaboration with official music partner Anghami, the Anghami Sessions were born out of a genuine attempt to expose aficionados to authentic beats.

Spread over three days of the festival and taking place on two sub stages from different sides of the venue, the performances will be released exclusively on the platform under the Anghami sessions. With reference to the exciting association, Rami M Zeidan, head of Marketing, said: “The Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival is a valuable partner, and at Anghami we share the vision of connecting people with the music they love. This year, we are excited to take our partnership to the next level by introducing Anghami Sessions, a platform that will present 6 local talents singing amazing music all of which will be available exclusively on Anghami.”

Speaking about the Anghami Sessions, Anthony Younes, CEO, Chillout Productions, founders and organisers of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival, said: “In past editions, we launched adjacent music activations such as World of Jazz, Jazz Garden and Jazz Legends under the umbrella of the Emirates Airline Dubai Jazz Festival. Playing a pioneering role and leaving a mark on Dubai’s music scene has always been a fundamental part of what we do. To commemorate our 15th anniversary, we wanted to introduce something new that allowed our fans to come celebrate our uniqueness and that’s exactly what we’ve done with the Anghami Sessions that has been created in partnership with the music app Anghami and Yamaha.”

The first day of the event, on February 22, will see regional Dubai-based jazz soul pioneer Rouba hold her own on Sub Stage 1 while four-member Lebanon-based band Postcards will delight audiences with a unique blend of dream-pop and folk music on Sub Stage 2. February 23 will see Mexican Lebanese singer-songwriter and producer Blu Fiefer take to sub Stage 1 with a glamour hip hop show, whilst  Battle  of the Bands finalist Mougleta unveils her Stories from the Jungle on Sub Stage 2. On the last day of the festival (February 24)  Dubai-based band Abri and Funk Radius will show fans what goes into making a true soul music master on Sub Stage 1 whilst finishing the line up on Sub Stage 2 Levantine Jazz sensation Layla Kardan will enchant listeners with her signature sultry jazz and soul tunes.

The opening night event featuring Sir Tom and The Rad Trads will offer a seat selection, on a first-come first serve basis, to all Fan Pit and Golden Circle Ticket holders exclusively. This year’s edition will also see VIP tables accommodating groups of six and 10 for Dh6,000 ($1,633) and Dh10,000 ($2,721.9) respectively. The offering for groups can be booked for a night of your choice and features VIP tickets for one of the three nights, one table at the VIP Skybox, premium beverages and unlimited soft drinks and juices.
