Abu Dhabi set for major beach festival

Aloha Abu Dhabi, the city’s most celebrated beach festival, kick-starts this week from March 28 to April 1 at Al Muneera Beach Plaza, Abu Dhabi’s first waterfront retail development at Al Raha Beach.

With an incredible array of breath-taking musical performances, amazing water sports and exciting daily activities, Aloha Abu Dhabi will offer family and friends an unforgettable, adventure-filled way to enjoy their spring break.  
 
The festival is free and open to the public as ‘Aloha’ means both ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ in Hawaiian, so that ‘Aloha Abu Dhabi’ reflects Al Muneera Beach Plaza’s warm and welcoming spirit. Organised by Aldar Properties (Aldar) in partnership with destination marketing specialists Wise, the festival hosts an impressive line-up of live musical entertainment, culinary and gastronomical delights plus a trendy selection of 60 fashion pop-ups, entertainment shows, food trucks, restaurant and cafes.
 
In addition to that, one of the key highlights of Aloha Abu Dhabi is its daily spectacular light, sound and fire show, as well as the chance for visitors to win exciting prizes by participating in the daily beach competitions of limbo and tug of war.
 
Aloha Abu Dhabi’s pop-up market features fashionable brands such as Lash Dubai, Rainstone Jewellery, Crystal and Lace, LWD Fashion, Happy Feet and Oud Sultan and participating restaurants include Dunkin Dounuts, Shake Shack, London Dairy, Yogurt Land, Mini Pancakes and Fort Fruity. For those wanting something quick and tasty, food trucks will be available in front of Al Raha Beach Canal such as Pink Burger, Sir Loin and Sons, El Cubano and 800Piza.

Aloha Abu Dhabi will offer its visitors a variety of entertainment shows and activities including street performance such as stilt walkers, break dancers, and fire-breathers. Children activities will include face painting, digital caricatures and Hawaiian themed puppet show while to keep everyone entertained there will be the Interactive “Aloha” message wall, live street art and beach themed photo booths and Bossaball.
 
The five day extravaganza will also offer live music shows featuring Vandaly band, live DJ mixes, Aloha dances, as well as harpist, saxphone and piano performances on the beach. For water-based sports lovers, the festival will feature water-donut rides, inflatable water slides and wakeboarding. Exercise-enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy yoga for all ages.
 
This year, Aloha Abu Dhabi has partnered with Jalboot to offer visitors an exclusive high-speed water taxi service with special rates for the festival. The journey from Abu Dhabi city (Abu Dhabi Mall) to Aloha Abu Dhabi festival takes approximately 45 minutes and costs Dh70 ($19) for a round trip or Dh40 ($10.8) for one way, leaving every 30 minutes from 15:30 until 23:30.
