BA appoints new sales head - Asia Pacific and Middle East

KUWAIT, April 26, 2017

British Airways, the UK’s flagship carrier, has welcomed Robert Williams as the new head of sales – Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Williams’ appointment comes on the back of the airline’s recent global announcement to boost its customer experience by investing in increased excellence in premium cabins and more choice and quality across all cabins and on-the-ground services.

Based in Singapore and reporting directly into the airline’s head of global sales in London, Williams' new role makes him responsible for managing the airline’s growth and development across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.

With over a decade of experience working with the British carrier, Williams' has built a wealth of experience by working across the airline’s various divisions and markets. Previously, the UK national was regional commercial manager for South East Asia and, before that, the Alliance Implementation Manager, based at the airline’s headquarters at Waterside in Heathrow. During this time, he led the commercial implementation of British Airways’ new joint business with Japan Airlines and helped to drive the synergies resulting from the partnership.

Prior to his time in Asia, Williams' was British Airways’ commercial manager for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

A fully-trained cabin crew member, he continues to operate as part of the airline’s iCSP fleet, flying approximately four times each year.

Before joining British Airways in 2007, Robert worked at APL, the transportation and container shipping company which is part of the Singapore-based NOL group. At APL, Robert held a variety of positions across Europe, including the UK and the Netherlands.

In his new role, Williams will drive the airline’s regional operations, including the roll-out of new investments in products to improve customer experience, starting with the new First Wing at Terminal 5, which is already accessible for British Airways’ Kuwaiti customers flying in First Class to London Heathrow. - TradeArabia News Service
