Grand Hyatt resort set for launch in Kochi

MANAMA, October 15, 2017

Lulu Group International and Hyatt, an international hotel chain, plan to open a stunning Grand Hyatt resort in Kochi, Kerala, in the first quarter of next year.

A spacious urban, waterfront resort set on 26 acres of landscaped grounds in an extraordinary location on the Bolgatty Island, Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty will feature 265 rooms, which include 38 suites, and three two-bedroom villas and one three-bed room villa.

Starting with the grand arrival, guests will be introduced to dramatic lighting and bold interiors with local, colonial and Arabic-influenced design elements that would appeal to both domestic and international travellers, said Girish Bhagat, general manager, Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty.

Bhagat was speaking at an event to introduce the property to Bahrain’s travel trade and media, held at the Gulf Hotel, Manama.

Located near the historic and picturesque town of Fort Kochi, the resort is owned by Lulu Group International and is adjacent to the sprawling Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre. Spread over 7,900 sq m, the centre will be South India’s largest convention centre in a leisure destination.

The resort will offer three food and beverage outlets, including:
•    Malabar Café – where the cuisine redefines the region’s age-old, treasured recipes with an easy café spirit;

•    Thai Soul – a casual outlet inspired by the energy of Bangkok street food, original recipes and iconic flavours.

•    Colony Clubhouse & Grill – Situated on the roof-top with views of Vembanad Lake, this outlet will be an old world grill room and bar with a hint of local flavour with Colonial and Arab influences and an emphasis on seafood.

Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty offers impeccable meetings and event spaces for corporate meetings, get-togethers or celebrations, said Bhagat.

Leisure facilities include a Grand Club Lounge, a 24-hour Fitness Centre and the luxurious spa Śāntata, an international spa offering a modern wellness experience with traditional ayurvedic treatments. The hotel also features an indoor pool, a landscaped outdoor swimming pool and children’s pool, a water-side amphitheatre, exploration gardens, including a spice garden, an outdoor Yoga lawn, a multi-purpose sport’s court, a children’s play area and a hair and beauty salon and three helipads.

For guests looking to explore the local community, Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty will provide a selection of extraordinary activities and locally inspired experiences, such as a guided tour of nearby Bolgatty Palace or a boat ride from the island’s jetty to Fort Kochi.

“We are thrilled to open this stunning urban resort in Kerala and are excited to join hands with Lulu Group International for this. With an increase in domestic travel, the tourism sector is booming in Kerala and we foresee that Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty is going to be a game changer in South India,” said Bhagat.

“With Kerala Tourism promoting the destination to the GCC with its ‘Yalla Kerala Campaign’, we are sure to attract more travellers from the Middle East to Kochi, he said.

The Uber resort is the 28th property for Hyatt in India and another six are under development, he said.
The hotel will target the domestic leisure markets, Arab and NRI travellers and the destination wedding business, said Bhagat.

The resort will also work with local communities and help the local economy by buying things form local vendors, he said. - TradeArabia News Service
