Tourism Ireland launches promotional space campaign

IRELAND, December 11, 2017

To celebrate the opening of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Tourism Ireland has launched a physical billboard in to space to announce Ireland as a truly out of this world destination.

The tourist board poster was launched in to space by weather balloon, hitting peak altitudes above Earth’s surface of more than 33km (20miles), with a message to Visit Ireland.

Much of the new Star Wars film has been shot in Ireland, including Skellig Michael on the South West coast, which appears as Luke Skywalker’s hide-out in the new film.

With dramatic ocean views and jagged rocks emerging from the sea, Skellig Michael (which means Michael’s rock in the sea), is a popular destination for Star Wars fans, who flock to the island to witness one of the most incredible set locations in the film franchise. Film spots across key locations in Ireland featured in the latest Star Wars film including areas in Cork, Kerry, Clare and Donegal. - TradeArabia News Service
