CIMAs in UAE ‘earning double the global average’

DUBAI, December 10, 2015

Management accountants in the UAE are earning an average monthly salary of Dh61,804 ($16,824),  50 per cent more than the average monthly salary of their global counterparts at Dh31,078, a report said.

Meanwhile, part-qualified CIMA students are earning a total average monthly salary of Dh14,583, added the annual salary survey conducted by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Geetu Ahuja, CIMA head of GCC, Middle East said: “The earning potential of our members has remained high, driven by the relevance and value of their skills to business.”

“The CIMA annual salary survey reiterates this strong demand for management accounting skills as business seeks better support in decision-making. Businesses know the benefit of strong management accounting skills in driving value and managing risk and so management accountants are increasingly sought after – and receiving increased remuneration as a result.”

Further breakdown of salaries of qualified CIMA members show that an Associate is drawing a monthly average of Dh36,303, whereas a Fellow with over 12 years of experience holding a c-suite position is receiving an average monthly salary of Dh202,083.
The salary breakdown of part-qualified students reveal that individuals at management level positions are drawing an average monthly salary of Dh8,750 and those at Strategic levels earn Dh17,500. Part-qualified students are also expecting an 18 per cent higher salary increase than Members moving forward.

The CIMA salary survey also highlighted that on the aspect of career mobility, Australia and USA are the most popular destinations for relocation, followed by UK and Canada. Members and students agreed that the two main reasons for moving abroad were to avail an improved quality of life and experience a different culture.
