Sony Ericsson posts second quarterly profit

Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has reported a second-quarter pretax profit of 31 million euros ($39.73 million), its second consecutive quarterly profit this year.

Sony Ericsson, owned jointly by Ericsson and Sony Corp, posted better results versus a forecast of a profit of 16.5 million euros in a Reuters poll. The firm made a loss of 283 million euros in the same quarter in 2009.

'Sony Ericsson maintains a forecast of slight growth in units in the global handset market in 2010,' the company said in a statement.– Reuters
