ODG sells Asia unit; plans to focus on core expertise

DUBAI, October 29, 2017

ODG, the award-winning retail and branding design consultancy headquartered in Dubai, has announced the sale of its Hong Kong and Singapore-based point of sale material, visual merchandising and packaging entities.

This sale allows ODG to focus upon its core retail specialisations of  branding, design and architecture, the company said in a statement.

ODG operates its strategic and design consultancy to global brands, retailers, shopping malls, real estate developers and concession operators, with a strong focus upon retail and ‘retailtainment’ in travel retail, transport hubs and F&B operations, it said.

The move sees ODG continue to serve the Asian market, under its core service offering. Rupert Provest is ODG’s representative in Asia, focused upon growing the existing project base to capture the increasing number of exciting opportunities across the region. Provest has over 13 years' experience in the Asian retail real estate market, having represented several Savills regional offices in delivering projects for leading mall operators, developers and retailers, the statement said.

Martin Mirmand, ODG co-founder, commented: “Three years ago we decided to strategically change our international organization, services and investment strategy by heavily capitalising upon our ODG teams and services based in Dubai. By doing so we have doubled our billing over the last three years.”

He added: “Having multiple offices in a number of countries no longer made sense from a strategic perspective. Enhanced connectivity has made the world a smaller place and clients are looking for specialists and pure players. Dubai is the perfect hub to connect with all our global clients.

“We believe the future of retail requires a redefinition of the shopper journey by creating new experiences. Millennials are disrupting traditional purchase patterns in a significant way, relying upon handheld devices to manage all their consumer needs. ODG is responding to this need by delivering efficient, results oriented strategies and designs to ensure we capture and connect with the contemporary end consumer,” Mirmand said.

This new frontier of ‘direct consumer connectivity’ has been acknowledged and actioned by ODG founder, Laurent Cauce, who is leveraging upon ODG’s operational responsibilities to put theory into practice through the establishment of his own F&B concepts he created in collaboration with ODG in Dubai. These include the successful launch of six ‘Bill the Butcher’ and ‘Gaston’ restaurants in Paris. - TradeArabia News Service
