Investcorp, a leading global provider of alternative investment solutions, on Tuesday said that the managers in its single manager platform have raised over $2 billion in assets.
Investcorp’s single manager platform was launched in 2005 by Investcorp’s hedge funds business with the objective of providing its global institutional client base with access to emerging talent in the hedge fund industry.
Investcorp typically provides between $50 million and $100 million in initial funding to the managers in the platform and assists them with marketing and distribution support as well as ongoing risk monitoring.
Today, Investcorp has more than 30 institutional investors in the platform which comprises six managers who adopt a range of different investment styles and strategies.
“Reaching the $2 billion milestone is a testament to the quality of the managers who have partnered with us,” said Deepak Gurnani, managing director and co-head of hedge funds.
“We screen hundreds of potential managers in order to select only the most experienced for each investment strategy in the single manager platform. We attribute much of the success of the platform to our careful manager selection process as well as to our continued focus on seeking returns for investors.”
The six managers currently included in Investcorp’s Single Manager Platform are: Cura Capital Management; Interlachen Capital Group; Silverback Asset Management; Stoneworks Asset Management; Washington Corner Capital Management and
WMG Asia.
“Investors truly value the commitment of capital from our own balance sheet, which fully aligns our interests with theirs,” said Ibrahim Gharghour, managing director and co-head of hedge funds.
“They also have a high regard for the operational oversight that we provide them with to help mitigate some of the real and perceived risks of investing in an early-stage fund.”
The single manager platform is part of Investcorp’s larger suite of hedge fund solutions, which includes fund of funds, customized portfolios and structured products.
“We have tailored the single manager platform to the interests of sophisticated institutional investors that want to diversify their hedge fund holdings by including the industry’s rising stars in their portfolios,” said Gharghour.-TradeArabia News Service
