GDF Suez has signed an agreement with Qatari state-owned companies Diar and Barwa to establish a multi-utility company in Qatar.

The company will be 51 percent held by Qatari interests and 49 percent by French interests, GDF said, without elaborating on the interests.

The joint venture will focus on multi-utility facilities and services in water treatment and distribution, waste water collection and treatment, power transmission and distribution and various energy services, it said.

The firm will assess and bid for multi-utilities projects and opportunities in Qatar, and potential customers would be Qatari Diar and Barwa projects, GDF said. - Reuters
