Rise in yuan 'would be disastrous for exports'

  A rise in the yuan would be a disaster for labour-intensive Chinese exporters, a semi-official trade group said on Thursday, as frictions grow with the US and other Western powers over Beijing's stable currency policy.

  Exchange of Futures for Swaps (EFS) for May jumped to $2.50 a barrel on Thursday, the highest level since December 2008 when Opec producers began record supply curbs, traders said.
