IRTI to launch free online Islamic finance courses on edX

The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank Group has signed a deal with leading provider of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), edX, to deliver Islamic banking and finance courses.
 
On February 23, IRTI will begin offering, through the edX learning platform, free courses under two series, namely ‘Islamic Finance and Banking X’ and ‘Islamic Financial and Capital Markets X,’ said a statement.
 
The IRTI MOOCs programme is part of a project aimed at expanding access to knowledge in Islamic economics and finance to support the development of a dynamic Islamic financial industry globally, it said.
 
The ‘Islamic Finance and Banking X’ series will provide an overview of the core principles and the fundamental concepts of the Islamic financial system, explain the various Islamic contracts and their impact on the Islamic financial system, and distinguishes between the Islamic and the conventional financial systems.
 
The ‘Islamic Financial and Capital Markets X’ series will cover the principles and practices of Islamic financial and capital markets, advanced Islamic financial instruments, challenges in the development of Islamic financial markets, and the trading operations of various markets in the Islamic financial system. - TradeArabia News Service
