Citi names new chief country officer for Lebanon

DUBAI, June 29, 2021

Citi has announced the appointment of Ghassan Salem as the Chief Country Officer (CCO) for Citi Lebanon.
 
In this role, Salem will drive Citi’s businesss in Lebanon and will report to Elissar Farah Antonios, Mena Cluster Head for Citi. In addition to his CCO role, Salem will also head Corporate Banking for Lebanon.
 
“We are pleased to welcome Ghassan and are confident that he will add value to Citi’s business in Lebanon, one of our oldest franchsies in the region,” said Antonios.
 
Prior to his appointment as CCO Lebanon, Salem was the Credit Review Manager with Citi in New York, heading a team of fundamental credit risk senior reviewers in the Americas Credit Review Team. 
 
Salem started his banking career in Los Angeles with Bank Audi (California) in 1991, returning to Lebanon in 1994 to head Corporate & Term finance at BLOM Invest and also subsequently headed Commercial Banking for Scotiabank. 
 
“I am thrilled to return to Lebanon after almost 10 years to lead Citi’s operations, and delighted to have the opportunity to support the needs of our local and global clients,’’ said Salem.
 
Salem has more than 20 years of experience at Citi in a variety of roles throughout the Middle East, Africa, and North America, mostly in Corporate Banking and Credit Risk management. --TradeArabia News Service
