At least 13 people were killed and 36 injured in northern Italy on Tuesday when a train derailed near the town of Viareggio and escaping gas from a tank on a wagon caught fire, a local official said.
Two nearby buildings collapsed, news agency ANSA said, adding that some of the victims were in them.
State railways said in a statement one carriage derailed, pulling another 4 with it. Liquefied petroleum gas escaped from a tank on one of the carriages and caught fire. - Reuters
