Geotechnical engineering works ... to include soil testing of key
Doha Metro lines.

Doha metro geotechnical work on track

DOHA, March 1, 2015

Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS) is set to complete the geotechnical engineering works, including the soil testing, for the three key lines of Qatar's Doha Metro, said a report.

A leading provider of geotechnical engineering, materials testing, and consulting services, ACTS had won the QR5-million ($1.37 million) contract to conduct the geotechnical works of the Red, Green and Gold lines, reported The Peninsula.

The 65-km-long Green Line will boast 31 stations, while the 30.6-km-long Golden Line will have 20 stations, it stated.

"We have been into the works for the past few months. Understanding the nature of the soil is key for enabling the design parameters of the rail line. Everything is going fine for the project," remarked Khaled Awad, the chairman and founder of  ACTS.

“We have already completed soil testing of three lines and their ground investigations. The parameters will soon be given to the rail line designers,” he added.
