Summit to focus on safety design of complex buildings.

Experts to discuss building safety design issues

RIYADH, September 8, 2015

Leading building experts will be in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month for a major safety conference which will put the focus on key industry issues.

The Safety Design in Buildings (SDiB) conference campaign will kick off on October 19 at the Holiday Inn Riyadh Izdihar, featuring expert insights through presentations and panel discussions.

It is a GCC-wide initiative to debate safety standards and practices in the built environment aimed at improved protection of people and assets in the region, said the organiser Sesam Business Consultants.

The current cycle of events will investigate fire safety considerations for malls and other high-occupancy buildings with a view to strategy planning, material, egress and safety system requirements, which are constantly challenged by the ambitious infrastructure development in the GCC, it stated.

The conference will bring fire consultants, façade designers and testing experts together with safety system suppliers to provide an update on industry standards and a debating platform for trends and development.

The major topics to be discussed include safety design of complex buildings, addressing the fire alarm problem: design and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems, fire alarm recognition and exit choice in underground stations, healthcare fire safety aligned for operations, aligning safety, security and aesthetics in architectural openings and façade safety and glass selection.

All major questions will be addressed live during the panel discussions, it said.-TradeArabia News Service
