Iraq aims to build world's tallest tower

BAGHDAD, November 19, 2015

Mott McDonald, a leading global engineering and consultancy firm, has been signed up by the Iraqi government to develop the tallest tower in the world standing at 3500 ft high, said a report.

Basrah provincial council, which is behind the project dubbed the “Bride tower,” said once completed, the structure will be taller than the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, in Dubai, which stands at 2,700ft, reported the Iraq Business News.

Mott McDonald will finalise plans for the 240-floor building which would be host to business communities, residents and public entertainment, it stated.

The project designers AMBS Archetects said the “city in the sky” is designed to be an “antidote” to modern super towers in the sense that the structure will have a large degree of community involvement, rather than being an “alien” corporate building cut off from the people, the report added.
