Qatar revises 2007 GDP up to $71bn
Doha

Qatar revised upward its gross domestic product for 2007 to an estimated 258.6 billion riyals ($71.08 billion) versus 206.64 billion riyals in 2006, the Qatar Statistics Authority said on Monday.

The previous figure was 232.49 billion riyals.

The latest GDP estimate will be subject to revision based on new census data, the authority said in a statement.

The authority will conduct a new census on GDP estimates and the economic structure for the period 2005 - 2007, the results of which will be released by the end of this year, it added.

The economy of Qatar, the world's largest producer of natural gas, could grow 15.5 percent at current prices this year, it said in March. -Reuters
