UAE’s TRA to offer scholarship with MBRSC

DUBAI, November 24, 2016

UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has signed a cooperation agreement with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) to provide scholarships for UAE students to pursue their advanced studies.

This agreement coincides with the UAE Innovation Week, which is held from November 20-26. It stipulates providing scholarships for a group of students to pursue their undergraduate studies in the country, in addition to scholarships for two students to continue their postgraduate studies outside the country.

The included programs as set by the agreement are: Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Communication Engineering, Physics, Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Space Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Optics.

Majed Al Mesmar, acting director general of TRA, said: “We are pleased to be partners with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, and to work together to develop Emirati competencies in this field, which is vital and has a strategic significance for the future of the UAE. This agreement reflects the vision of our wise leadership in enhancing the UAE’s leading position in all areas, and its eagerness to accelerate the achievement of the objectives through coordination as well as fruitful and constructive interaction between different government entities on the state level.”

Mona Al Qemzi, assistant director general for Corporate Support at MBRSC said: “The agreement is in line with the efforts of official bodies and institutions at the state level aimed to establish a future generation of Emirati scientists and to contribute to the implementation of the UAE trends in building an economy based on knowledge and innovation.”

“Education is the most important element to develop the Emirati human capital and to enable them to excel in all the fields of science and technology, especially in the areas concerned with space science and satellite manufacture and operation,” Al Qemzi added.

“The space sector is growing rapidly in the UAE, especially in the field of developing ambitious space projects and services; and the future will uncover new projects and initiatives. In this sense, it is necessary to provide academic opportunities for talented Emirati youth inside or outside the country to enroll in higher education, so as to provide the center with new employees with high levels of scientific efficiency,” Al Qemzi concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
