Qanat Al Qasba to host tea fiesta

Qanat Al Qasba, the cultural, leisure and entertainment hub of the region brings on a world of tea with “Tea World” starting December 27.

The unique tea fiesta, which brings together a blend of teas from across the globe, entertainment and educational events, will continue until January 5.

Hamdan Al Kaabi, events coordinator at Qanat Al Qasba, said: “Tea World is a unique opportunity for visitors to experience literally a world of teas at one stop destination. Through our fusion of different cultures and different tea producing regions this will be an event that will represent the different cultures around the world. Tea has had a along and interesting history throughout the world and we will no doubt bring that history and the cultures associated to it alive with the fantastic array of entertainment events lined up for all age groups.”

Bringing alive the long history of tea, Tea World is set to dazzle all its visitors with a host of related events. Tea brands from different regions and countries around the world, such as Western, Middle East, Far East and the Indian Subcontinent will be on display and available for visitors to taste the different brews offered by people hosts dressed in costumes particular to their regions.

A tea museum will be the focus of the event with displays of pictures and information about the history of tea, its processing, and different types of tea with samples. The displays will also include the materials used to brew and serve tea including interesting artifacts like tea chests and tea cozies. A short documentary on the brew will also be telecast twice a day for visitors.

Visitors can also get hands on experience with the various workshops that will be conducted for families and children including the Japanese Tea Ceremony, Tea Tasting sessions, the making of Indian clay teacups and Chinese pottery painting.

The event will come alive with many entertainment activities that will be thematically divided to represent the four main regions of Tea World – Western, Far East, Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. While balloon benders, clowns and face painters will dot the location, children and adults alike will be mesmerised with the Tanoura Dancers, Japanese Dancers, the Mad Hatter Tea Party Parade, the Indian dance troupe and jugglers galore.

Besides the special Tea World activities, visitors can also enjoy the daily happenings at Qanat Al Qasba including savouring the ware from some of the best dining destinations in Sharjah, an Abra ride under the stars and a ride in the Eye of the Emirates, the tallest observatory wheel in the region.--TradeArabia News Service
