Muscat Private Hospital (MPH), a premier private medical facility in Oman, has added
veteran spine surgeon Dr Henry Graf into its team of consultants.
With more than five decades of experience, Dr Graf brings with him not only expertise but in-depth knowledge as well, said a statement form Muscat Private Hospital.
Gerard Strong, HD MPH, said the recruitment of Dr Graf into the team of consultants represented a further step in the hospital's strategy to ensure patients receive specialist surgery from acknowledged International figures who have sub-specialised in specific areas.
"This ensures patients receive delicate surgery from surgeons who carry out large numbers of this type of surgery, and have developed special levels of expertise in techniques and treatment processes which reduces risk and improves outcomes for patients," he noted.
Dr Graf began his specialist surgical career as an orthopaedic surgeon then further as a spinal sub specialised surgeon. Under Jean Dubousset, he started training in spine surgery and in particular on Scoliotic deformity.
Along with Jean, Dr Graf conducted a fundamental research on 3D reconstruction of scoliotic deformity, from front and lateral X-Rays with the help of a ‘personal computer,’ a rare feature in the late 70s.
Soon, he learnt the whole basic surgical technique on spine including, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis and congenital spinal malformation.
Dr Henry Graf has undertaken several research projects spanning five decades of his career and is currently working on the Retrospective and Prospective Study of Lumbosacral Stabilisation using Supple Stabilisation System and the Development and Study of Animal Models for the Study of Three-dimensional Vertebral Movement and Instability.
He is also simultaneously working on the Development of a Standard Test to Characterise the Radiological Signs of Vertebral Instability and the Continuing Long Term Follow-up on Low Back Pain in Post-Operative Instability, the statement said.-TradeArabia News Service
