City 101.6 FM marks Anti-Obesity Day
Dubai

City 101.6 FM, a part of the Arabian Radio Network (ARN), marked Anti-Obesity Day with a ‘Get-in-Shape’ contest in conjunction with the leading wellness group VLCC Slimming Centre.

Popular radio jockey Kritika hosted daily live contests in which she picked the laziest contestants to join her for fitness competitions.

The competitions were aired live from the VLCC clinic in Karama and rounded off the programmes dedicated to the day. In the first 30 minutes of the show, Kritika conducted an ‘Ask the Expert’ session with the public and a VLCC expert, discussing topics such as weight loss, obesity, and nutrition.

Kritika then led the contestants down a series of physical and nutritional exercises including dancing, walking, jumping, and even preparing a salad! All the competitions were judged by Kritika herself.

“The significance of Anti-Obesity Day is for people to realise the prevalence of obesity among individuals of all ages and its threatening consequences on health and well being. Not only does obesity affect the overall productivity of the individual and the society, it has also been the cause of many medical and psychological problems, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, depression and anxiety,” said Kritika.

The winner Rajesh Prabhakar walked away with an Dh2,000 ($544.6) VLCC voucher, while the runner-up, Hozefa Mithaiwala, won an Dh500 VLCC voucher. – TradeArabia News Service
