Dubai Health sets up smart data centre

DUBAI, October 2, 2016

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has established a Smart Data Center, which is at par with the latest international standards.

It has obtained an Uptime Institute (UTI) Tier III design certification, making it the first government health organization in the world to obtain such recognition.

DHA announced that it is now preparing to transfer all its data to the new center, to be used for storing during 2017. The center will serve as DHA’s primary data center for the next 10 years, with guaranteed time and power capacity during that period.

The new center will support DHA’s “Electronic Medical Record” initiative as well as the Smart City strategy and initiative of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The high tech and smart features of the new center which is maintained by trained specialists, will allow the authority to store its data safely and efficiently by optimizing power usage.

Humaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board and director general of DHA toured the new center located in Latifa Hospital earlier this week.

During his visit Al Qatami said that with all the technological developments the world is undergoing it is important to utilize this technology to store and protect data and information to guarantee data accuracy and meet Dubai’s strategy.

Amani Al Jasmi, head of Health Information Systems Section at DHA said the center is equipped to store system information and statistics, medical records of patients and data related to visitors to hospitals and research and medical centers to name a few.

She said the center’s storing capabilities are of the highest quality as the guarantee of safety of the information and data reaches around 100 per cent.  – TradeArabia News Service
