Sabic, Noga experts to discuss circular carbon utilisation tech

MANAMA, November 23, 2020

Leading experts from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) and National Oil and Gas Authority, Bahrain (Noga) - Dr Abdulaziz Al Jodai and Engineer Hussain Makki - will be taking part in a webinar, "CCUS – a Strategy for Petro-economies of the GCC”, that will put focus on the carbon capture, utilisation (CCU) technology and provide an insight into the technology options to be deployed in CCU, storage and transport, scale-up and commercialisation.

Being organised by Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions (HCE), the webinar opens tomorrow (November 24) at 2pm (Riyadh time) (GMT +3). It will highlight the latest research and findings from carbon capture projects, market predictions, business opportunities, and unlocking the economic potential of Carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) in the Gulf region.
 
The webinar is being led by Dr Al Jodai and Engineer Makki, with the able support of knowledge partners Sabic and Noga and Oil and Gas News as the media hosts of the event.
 
The Arab British Chamber of Commerce, a supporting organisation with 10Xevents, is a technology partner.
 
The event is free to registered attendees and will be jointly moderated by Bandar Ali Murad Reda, Secretary General & CEO of The Arab British Chamber of Commerce and Larissa Lee Beck, CCUS Policy Innovation Director of the Clean Air Task Force from the US, said the media hosts for the event.
 
On the upcoming event, Jubran Abdulrahman, Publishing Director of Oil and Gas News, said: "It is an exciting initiative for OGN and our Knowledge Partners Sabic and Noga. Dr Abdulaziz Al-Jodai a US UOP engineering fellow, with a PhD in chemical engineering and MS degree in industrial Management WVU US, is leading the contribution of Sabic at the webinar. 
 
Dr Al Jodai is a named inventor of numerous patents at Sabic, mainly in plant-wide chemical process development, renewable energy and environmental fields, said the organisers.

Bahrain is committed to lessen its pollutants from its oil sector and as the Chairman of Noga’s Climate Change Committee & Technical Coordinator Engineer Hussain Makki is well placed to provide invaluable thought-provoking knowledge on circular carbon economy, he added. 
 
On the upcoming event, Dr Al Jodai said: "CCUS is an important emissions reduction technology that can be applied across the energy system, and renewable energy is an excellent future source for recycling CO2."
 
"This places the GCC in a critically important position to explore the role for CCUS technologies in clean energy transitions for the future,” he added.
