Saudi Arabia, Greece eye more tie-ups in the private sector

RIYADH, June 1, 2022

Saudi Arabia and Greece have explored opportunities to expand partnerships in the private sector and boost investment cooperation.

On a visit to Greece, Khalid Al Falih, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, held bilateral meetings with several high-level Greek officials including Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis, Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Tourism Vasilis Kikilias, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Ioannis Plakiotakis, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Costas Fragoyiannis.

Reflecting on the visit, Al Falih said: “This visit builds on a bond between our two nations that runs deep and is of a long-standing, historic and strategic nature. In recent months, our countries have met at the very highest level several times, resulting in key achievements such as the launch of the Joint Saudi-Greek Business Council and the Saudi-Greek Investment Forum.

Common interest
“During this trip we explored further several areas of common interest. Our continued collaboration will help us to achieve our mutual determination to transform our economies, and now is the time to ensure an overarching alignment between our visions to further economic growth and investment in both countries.”

The fifth meeting of the Saudi-Greek Joint Ministerial Committee took place during the visit. The Committee focused on ways to develop partnerships across key sectors of shared interest, recognising the importance of continued collaboration between both countries at the highest level.

On the sidelines, the Saudi-Greek Investment Forum was held, which explored mechanisms to deepen cooperation in the energy, construction, innovation, agricultural foods, maritime transport, and tourism sectors, whilst also promoting the resources available to investors.
