90 killed in Indian train accident

NEW DELHI, November 20, 2016

At least 90 people were killed when 14 coaches of a train derailed in India's Uttar Pradesh state in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Patna - Indore Express derailed near Pukhrayan in Kanpur, reports said. Nearly 80 passengers were seriously injured in the derailment, while 150 others suffered minor injuries, an official was quoted as saying.

Medical teams have been rushed to the site of the accident to attend to the injured, an Indian Express report said.

Officials are expecting the death toll to rise as the rescue operations are on the way.
