Verbatim launches new line of external HDs
Dubai

Verbatim has launched a whole new line of Verbatim 2.5” Portable Hard Drives (HDDs).

With the new, elegantly designed External Hard Drives, consumers and businesses can immediately add 120, 160, 250, or 320GB removable capacity to their computer. The palm-sized external drives will be available for both Windows and Mac users, said an official spokesman.

The need for a fast, easy way to store, backup, share and transport data and multimedia files is fueling explosive growth in the worldwide removable storage industry.

“Part of Verbatim’s corporate strategy is to capitalise on this trend with an expanded line of external HD products that meet the diverse storage needs of consumers and businesses in the Middle East. Our new product range in a sleek black and silver design has been adapted to match the latest design trends in the laptop sector,” said sales executive Verbatim Middle East Ziad Arab.

Contemporary, modern design coupled with state-of-the-art technology Verbatim has enhanced the versatility of its 2.5” external drives by offering them with a choice of a USB interface or a Combo USB/FireWire interface.

The external HD drives run at 5,400 rpm and deliver transfer speeds of up to 480MB per second (MB/sec.) when connected with USB 2.0 and up to 400MB per second for FireWire connections. Power is supplied via the USB or FireWire connection, rendering external power packs obsolete.

Once the Verbatim portable HD is connected to a computer, it can be accessed and used like a computer hard drive. Users can drag files to the portable HD’s icon to copy them, navigate to their HD in Open or Save dialogue boxes, or delete files stored on the HD.

Verbatim Hard Drives are compatible with the latest operating systems Vista and Leopard. For regular back-ups, Verbatim’s 2.5” HD drives offer the “Time Machine” back-up feature of the “Leopard” Mac OS X operating system from Apple, thereby making them perfect for modern Mac products.

In the USB models, Nero’s “BackItUp 2 Essentials” software is used, providing professional data back-up with a range of individual settings. The software is also available in 26 languages.

The new elegantly designed Verbatim 2.5” Portable Hard Drives (HDDs) with 120, 160, 250, or 320GB capacity will be available from February 2008.

A selection of products will be available in Carrefour Dubai until the end of February 2008, they will also be available at the following stores : Lulu, Panda, Geant, Compume, Sharaf DG & Cellucom.

Verbatim has created a stunning branding including a Verbatim 3D logo that will turn around in the air and a 20” spot dedicated to Verbatim new HDDs launch and its main products ie Optical, Flash USBs & cards on giant LED screens. This branding will be closed to the Pakistan stage at the Global Village, Dubailand on Emirates Road Exit 37. – TradeArabia News Service
