Dubai

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd has launched its HSUPA USB Stick E170 at ITU Telecom Africa 2008 in Cairo, Egypt.

This product is now available in the Middle East and North Africa market. Huawei also showcased its multi-media 3G slip shone, U3300, at this event.

Huawei's E170 is the first HSUPA USB stick to be launched in the Middle East and North Africa market. With a compact design only 6.68 cm in length and two colours, black and white, Huawei's E170 is slim and elegant but with powerful technology content.

It can support various systems such as HSPA, UMTS, EDGE, GPRS, and GSM. Systems such as HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2Mbps allow end-users to watch on-line streaming videos, download or upload large files, and surf on the Internet.

The E170 also supports different operating systems such as Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and MAC for added convenience.

With increasing demand for data cards in MENA, many operators are now focusing on mobile broadband devices. Huawei has business relationships in terminal products with over 90 per cent of operators in MENA.

Huawei's full-mode product status provides full support for operators to develop mobile broadband services. In 2007, Huawei recorded shipments of over eight million mobile broadband products. Currently, Huawei is serving 235 telecom operators in 115 countries throughout the world.

At ITU Telecom Africa 2008, Huawei also showcased its multi-media 3G slip phone, U3300, which has streamlined contours, a polished mirror-like surface, and two cameras of 2-megapixel and 0.3-megapixel respectively, and includes powerful functionality such as Bluetooth, Email, MMS, WAP2.0, and a Micro SD card.

In addition, Huawei launched its iF Design Award winner, the U5700, and its Red Dot Design Award winner, the U1310.

In 2007, Huawei recorded revenue of USD 2.6 billion in terminal sales. With a global R&D and services platform, Huawei now serves 35 of the world's top 50 operators and operates in regions and countries such as Europe, Africa, Australia, the US and Japan. – TradeArabia News Service
