Gems deploys Dell servers
Dubai

Gems has deployed the latest in Enterprise Solutions from Dell at its headquarters in Dubai  and 26 schools across the UAE.

Gems Education said that the Dell’s solutions installed have increased performance, manageability and reliability at its data centres.

The Dell PowerEdge blade servers, rack dense servers and the Dell|EMC CX3-40 and CX3-10 Enterprise storage systems deployed support all major business applications at Gems

“At Gems, we know first-hand that education can be transformed, and that learning can become an exciting experience for all students who use technology. We strongly believe in providing education beyond the classroom, and therefore we were looking for a technology provider like Dell with a comprehensive platform,” said Gems founder and chairman Sunny Varkey.

“We endeavor to utilize state of the art technology, equipment, and creative advanced teaching and learning techniques that will further enhance overall merit and excellence of our students,” he said.

“Gems chose to install the Dell servers and Enterprise storage systems because of their high performance, reliability and easy manageability. The Dell solutions offer leading performance per watt and consume the least amount of data centre space,” said Gems director for IT Manoj Varghese

The environmental benefits and the Gold mission critical support services were also a defining factor in selecting Dell as our solutions provider. Support calls have dramatically reduced after deployment of the DELL products”, he said.

“Helping accelerate education in the Middle East is a key focus area for Dell and we’re committed to helping students in the region reach their full potential. We work closely with a number of education establishments to integrate the latest technology into teaching and learning methods. We are excited to be working with Gems Education, the region’s largest private education provider, and are confident that our technology will help facilitate and manage their learning environment,” said Dell Middle East general manager Michael Collins.

“Key Information Technology (KIT), our strategic channel partner has established itself as a pioneer in providing customized solutions for clients in the UAE and the Middle East. KIT has played a vital role in providing Gems with tailored solutions to suit their requirements,” added Collins.

“Recognising the importance of data consolidation and improving utilisation without sacrificing performance, Dell’s blade servers answer Gems Education’s data centre needs. Through world-class technology and systems management, these servers enable more efficient and easily managed datacentre infrastructures, helping IT management demonstrate increased ROI,” key information technology general manager Sudhakaran Nair.

Dell’s blade servers feature the latest Intel Xeon Quad-Core processors. The proven performance, reliability and efficiency of Intel Xeon processor-based server systems make them an ideal choice for all data demanding organisations.

Designed for energy efficiency and density, blade servers address the growing power and space constraints of data centers.

'Intel Xeon-based servers are the backbone of the enterprise,' said Khaldoun Aboul-Saoud, Intel regional markets development manager for GCC. 'Intel is delivering new levels of performance and performance per watt, and driving the Intel Core microarchitecture into such innovative systems for data centres.' – TradeArabia News Service
