Qtel slashes Dawli overseas call rates
Doha

Qatar Telecom has unveiled a new range of options for its popular Dawli International Card, allowing customers to take advantage of lower rates when making overseas calls.

The promotion will run for eight weeks across the summer, enabling people to stay in touch with friends and family overseas for longer, said a statement from Qtel.

As part of the promotion, Qtel has launched two new cards – Dawli Mena and Dawli Asia – in denominations of QR25 ($6.9) and QR 75 ($20.6) each, which will provide specially reduced rates for specified countries within Mena and Asia zones.

The Dawli Asia provides reduced rates for Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Diego Garcia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Taiwan.

The Dawli Mena provides reduced rates for Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, and Yemen.

With the promotional rates available through these cards, customers will be able to call specified countries in the respective zones for as little as QR0.99 per minute all day, with the call initiation dropping from QR1 per call to only QR 0.25 per call.

Customers calling people in popular destinations such as Egypt, Syria, India, Pakistan and Lebanon will benefit from savings of more than 50 per cent all day, every day, when using with the new Zone Cards, said Adel Al Mutawa, executive director, Group Communications, Qtel.

'Qtel continues to ensure that we provide the widest choice and best value for international communications.'

'With the new Dawli International Cards, we are dramatically reducing the cost of calling some of the most popular call destinations from Qatar, so that people can stay in touch with friends and family over the summer,” he stated.

“With more people looking to holiday at home this year, Dawli cards will provide an important – and affordable link – to the people you care about,” he added.

Dawli cards have recently been enhanced with the launch of new features, Card Linking and Redialing.

These new features enable customers to make calls without entering the card number every time they make a call, and to quickly redial the last dialed number without entering the card and destination numbers all over again.-TradeArabia News Service
