Qtel Group chief named to GSMA board

Doha, December 16, 2010

Dr Nasser Marafih, chief executive officer of the Qtel Group, has been appointed to the board of the GSMA, the organisation which represent the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry.

The GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations.

“It is a special privilege to be appointed to the GSMA Board, and I am honoured to be able to join this senior body of industry leaders,” commented Dr Nasser.

“The GSMA Board has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of the mobile communications industry in many ways.
