iGA receives ISO certificate

Bahrain’s iGA wins key ISO certification

MANAMA, June 5, 2018

Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) said it has been granted the ISO 20000:2011 certification for the group's IT service management systems.

The authority was granted the certification after having successfully met all regulations and requirements during the auditing process by internationally certificated Bureau Veritas, said a statement from iGA.

The certification makes iGA one of the first governmental entities to receive this international recognition, it stated.

This certification confirms the authority’s efforts in developing an advanced IT infrastructure and work environment that supports the designing, applying and utilising of the best procedures related to managing IT services and electronic operations.

The certificate reflects the advanced level of IT services and continuous development processes that aim at providing international standards, high-quality eServices in an electronic environment with the highest levels of security and protection for all assets and information in all public sectors, it added.

CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed said iGA was proud of its achievements made in the IT field and added that such accomplishments reflect the trend towards keeping abreast with the advancements and rapid transformations in technology; activating innovative technologies; as well as adhering to global standards for the quality of services delivered to customers."

He also pointed-out the authority’s keenness in applying the highest standards in quality, safety and excellence in all of its operations and provided services that supports the successful implementation of its plans and strategic objectives which go in line with the Government Action Plan.

Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, acting vice chief executive of operations and governance at iGA, stated that receiving the ISO certificate by the IT sector, under the supervision of iGA operations director Mohammed Khalifa Al Yassi along with the efforts of the working team is considered a significant achievement especially that it is internationally certified in the IT service management field, said a statement.

Furthermore, he praised the skills and expertise of the national cadre at the authority, being able to achieve such accomplishment without the need of outsourced consultants or specialised companies, it said.

ISO20000 is a world-class standard in the IT field conducted by the International Organization for Standardization, which is a non-profit organisation of members from 164 countries.

Coordination and follow-up are carried out through a central secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland.

Furthermore, ISO links between the public and private sectors by developing standards that meet all business requirements and the needs of both sectors. – TradeArabia News Service
