Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, launched her new charity, Sarah Selects, in conjunction with realty majors, Select Property of the UK and Dubai-based Select Group to support disadvantaged children in the UAE.

The new charity, Sara Selects, unveiled at the launch ceremony of Aquitainia, a private island development on The World, being developed by Select Group and Select Property,  also evoked widespread appeal at a unique auction, fetching Dh3.5 million ($952420) for a one-bed room suite on the exclusive Aquitainia development.

The proceeds from the auction will go to charitable causes for children within the UAE, including Make a Wish Foundation in the UAE, support to children with diabetes and perhaps a school and village charity in Northern Iraq.

'The plight of children is an issue close to my heart, and I intend to devote time to choosing the right causes within the UAE in which to donate the money,' said the Duchess of York.
