Sharjah Chamber calls for sustainable development

Dubai, June 9, 2010

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) made a call for the adoption of more environment-friendly best practices to help in the emirate’s ongoing efforts to achieve total sustainable development.

The chamber launched its Environment Week initiative in celebration of World Environment Day, which will run from June 5 to 12 and is being organised in cooperation with the Business Council for Sustainable Development-UAE, the local arm of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, which operates under the umbrella of SCCI.

Accompanying the initiative is a special three days environment exposition (June 8 to 10) that will feature environment-themed video documentaries and presentations. It will also showcase eco-friendly industrial products and services of participating companies and organisations.

“Our Environment Week features a wide array of events and activities focusing on the latest techniques and strategies that seek to increase public awareness on key environmental concerns,” said Hussein Mohammed Al Mahmoudi, director general, SCCI.-TradeArabia News Service
