Bahrain pledges continued support to Yemen

MANAMA, April 7, 2015

Bahrain has pledged to continue its role in the military campaign in Yemen until it regains its security and stability and its people are protected from the terrorist Houthi militias.

"Operation Decisive Storm was necessary to maintain regional security and stability and affirm the principle of non-interference in sovereignty of any Arab country," His Majesty King Hamad said in a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace, he described the Saudi-led campaign as a rejection of any threats endangering the security of neighbouring countries.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, attended.

"GCC and Arab countries are united in supporting legitimacy and rejecting any coup d’etat to turn an Arab country into a satellite state for regional powers which are seeking to assert their hegemony," the King said, citing Yemen in particular.

He highlighted internal, regional and international developments in the aftermath of Operation Decisive Storm.

His Majesty had ordered Bahrain's participation in the campaign in response to the call by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the earnest demand of the legitimate Yemeni authorities, Cabinet secretary-general Dr Yasser bin Essa Al Nasser said. - TradeArabia News Service
